Road Safety Debate
Road Safety Debate

Welcome to my newsletter for Poplar and Limehouse, the best way to keep up to date on some of the things I get up to as your Member of Parliament. This update is only a few snapshots; it cannot cover the regular surgeries, ongoing case work, research and many enquiries we receive every day.

If you are a constituent and would like to get in touch, please feel free to send me an email: along with your name and address.

Best wishes,

On Sunday my wife Sheila and I joined Cllr. Sirajul Islam and the Governor of the Tower of London Col. Dick Harrold and his wife Lesley at the Tower commemorating the centenary of the Armistice.
Calling for fireworks packaging to show graphic images
As picked up by the media, I joined the call for injuries caused by fireworks to be displayed on packaging and I have tabled a Parliamentary Question on this.

On Monday I showed my continuing support to protect the rights of EU27 citizens currently residing in the UK and British citizens residing in the EU27 countries.
Remembrance Service in Westminster Hall
On Monday I joined colleagues at a service of remembrance in the Houses of Parliament.
Rehabilitating veterans
Last Thursday I attended a briefing by the charity Care after Combat which supports veterans involved in the criminal justice system.
Heart UK's latest report launched
Last week I attended the launch of Heart UK's State of the Nation report in Parliament, which makes recommendations for improving the treatment of CVD.

This week in Parliament...

There was an urgent question on the rights of EU citizens in the event of a no-deal Brexit, a statement on Universal Credit and a debate on the report on bullying and harassment of House of Commons staff.

There were urgent questions on Police Pension Liabilities and the Assessment and Treatment of Vulnerable People, followed by a debate on the Centenary of the Armistice.

The House of Commons then adjourned until Monday 12th November.
