Parliament
Hello,

Welcome to my newsletter for Poplar and Limehouse, the best way to keep up to date on some of the things I do as a Member of Parliament. This update is only a few snapshots; it cannot cover the regular surgeries, ongoing case work, research and many enquiries we receive every day.

If you are a constituent and would like to get in touch, please feel free to send me an email: jim.fitzpatrick.mp@parliament.uk along with your name and address.

Best wishes,

Jim

I have long campaigned for an end to the use of wild animals in circuses.  On Tuesday I spoke in favour of a bill that will ban this cruel practice.
£200m for Safer Cladding
I have been calling for urgent action to remove unsafe cladding from tower blocks and to ensure leaseholders do not have to pay.  Yesterday we had an important step forward with funding promised for remedial work.

Yesterday there was a cricket match to raise awareness of this charity's work and the plight of those children living on the streets of Bangladesh.  I had hoped to play but could only attend the event afterwards.

On Tuesday it was pleasure to meet Dr Joanne Woolway Grenfell, who has been announced as the Bishop covering Islington, Hackney and Tower Hamlets.
Canary Wharf College visits Parliament
On Tuesday it was a pleasure to welcome three Year 3 classes from Canary Wharf College to the Parliamentary Education Centre.
Employability of People with Disabilities
On Wednesday I attended a reception organised by Muscular Dystrophy UK which discussed the employability of young people with disabilities.
Pensions for Life
Last Wednesday I pledged by support for the campaign by the National Association of Retired Police Officers to secure pensions for partners of Police Officers.
Congratulations to Mulberry School
Last Friday I watched Mulberry School pupils secure an excellent national second place in ⁦The Prince's Trust Enterprise Challenge National Final.
Questions to the Prime Minister
Wednesday saw the latest round of questions to the Prime Minister.  Jeremy Corbyn's questions were on the NHS and he asked about staffing shortages, the early diagnosis of ovarian cancer, the shortage of GPs and the pressure on A&Es.
